Short Sharp Shocked

The hot months are upon us now and with that comes some new styling and profiling. Among my newest fashion acquisitions are:

The Clooney Cut

Marty at Salon 1 whipped out the clippers a couple of weeks ago and laid waste to my hair. While it is easy to manage, I have a nasty cowlick that'll take a couple of weeks to get a handle on. Also, my face is big and really short hairstyles can accentuate it further. Once the mane has grown for another week, it will be the perfect length.

The Right Trousers

Pants are really difficult for me to find. Most normal retailers think that men with 42" waists don't have legs longer than 30". Big and tall stores think that tall men love farmers jeans and poly blends. Online is the way to go. The best jeans and khakis I've gotten in the last 3 years have come from Gap and Old Navy online. And thanks to Galoot Sr. (who worked for the Gap in the seventies and whose wife has been with Gap since 1969) I'm the proud owner of some loose fitting khakis. I kid you not, these are all I've been wearing for two weeks at work. I love them.

Sunglasses at Night

Big head = wide glasses. My new specs came in. Plastic frames...honey colored...and transitional lenses! Yes, I've finally become that kid I wanted to tell off in grade school. You know who I'm talking about. The one whose glasses always seemed to be sunglasses indoors. He thought he was so cool. But, no, his eyes were just light sensitive. Now I have a pair. Luckily, they don't seem to go too dark indoors. Just in case, if you want to fight with me because of them, please allow me to take them off first.

Congrats on the new summer style.

My latest acquisition will probably only interest your wife, (if her even [and since she'll read this, consider this for you, Preppygirl]). I decided a few weeks ago I needed sandals cute enough to wear to work. I too wear khakis pretty much every day, usually with dress shoes. Birkenstocks don't work for work. I'm not a big sandal person anyway. So, off to Kohls, in search of dressy looking sandals with a backstrap. Without a backstrap I feel like they are falling off. Found some I thought I liked, but wasn't sure. Returned a day later and they were $4 cheaper. Victory. I am wearing them right now. Today hubby told me I looked "summer sporty" this morning.

Thus ends the saga of my dressy summer sandals...

I have the same problem for pants - we (women) don't really have "big & tall" stores... and that's a shame, 'cause it's really hard to find good quality, nice fitting clothes!

I would never hit someone with glasses - always made sure they took them off first! So your new glasses are safe! ;-)

Ha Ha, that reminds me of a story that Gab told me awhile back. This guy (25 yrs old or so), a real dumbass had picked a fight with a coworker (after work at a party). Evidently the dumbass wanted the guy to fight with him and the other guy told him to take off his glasses first. The dumbass was taunting him by taking them off then putting them back on really quick. He did this several times while calling the guy a bunch of names including "pussy." Finally one the other guys friends just walked right up to dumbass and punched him square in the face. Broke his glasses and his nose.

I normally do not find men fighting entertaining in the least but knowing this guy, I laughed out loud when I heard this story.

Oh my GOSH 3 - I just bought a pair of sandals on line and they arrived today. They are black and made by birkenstock.. and get this - they have a strap in the back! I'll have to post a pic on my blog (so I will have the approval of the blog reading world on my new footwear). What a timely comment!

Ha- I promise to give you some time to take off your glasses before I fight you.

My husband has the same problem with pants (as you may guess)! Seriously, what is up with the 40" waist and 30" length??? Who are these (very round) people???

Hubby wears a 40 X 32, but he is 6'4". He seems to have the bulk of his height in his torso. As do I, which is why even petite size pants with their 28" inseam are too long for me. I'm only 5'2", but I know there are people out there shorter than me, so I don't think petite pants should be 2 inches too long on me...And, as does our son, who has always been on the high end of the charts for height, and wears a 3T shirt, but 2T pants tend to be too long.

oh my god I just totally insulted 3carnation's husband! AAA! Hopefully you knew I was joking. If it makes you feel any better, my husband has freakishly long legs and a tiny tiny torso.

Too funny, -r-...No offense taken...I'm really not sure who all the perfectly proportioned people are that these clothes are made for...
